Got bored and reasearched info on some abandos around Brisbane, then put all the info together. Feel free to use for captions when posting on IG, YouTube etc. Please correct me if I’m wrong

Salvin Park Blue Nursing Home
This aged care facility was built in 1963. The buildings were closed in late 2014 and the facility became abandoned. In January 2016 some of the buildings were deliberately lit, and relit earlier this year resulting in most of the aged care facility to be burnt to the ground. The facility is now demolished.

B******y Hotel
The hotel was built in 1890 and is a significant part of Brisbane's history. It was added to the Queensland heritage list in 1992 mainly because of the significant 1800s Victorian architecture style. In 2010 a fire broke out and damaged the hotel. The owners at the time had not payed for adequate insurance and because of this the hotel closed down and became abandoned. Currently the hotel is filled with graffiti, beds and used needles. There is a proposal to make this hotel into a 27 storey residential tower, but no plans have been made.

Red Hill Skate Arena
Brisbane's most famous abandoned building, most well known as Red Hill Skate Arena. It was built in 1920 and was originally used as a theatre showing movies, going by the name of 'Red Hill Picture Pops'. In 1964 it was converted into a sound lounge for a year before being transformed into Red Hill Skate Arena in 1965. On Boxing Day 2002 the building was set ablaze. Fire and smoke filled the arena, putting it out of business. After the fire the owners at the time were unable to repair the damages the building became abandoned. The skate arena is now on the Queensland heritage list for its cultural significance in Brisbane's history. As of late 2017 the current owners of Red Hill Skate Arena have announced that they are going to redevelop the building back into a cinema, trying to recreate what it would have been like in 1920. These renovations have already started to take place.

D***t Cafe
This cafe was originally a pontoon, but was converted into a popular eatery in 1989. It became abandoned when it broke away from the shore in the 2011 floods, and came close to completely sinking to the bottom of the Brisbane river. The restaurant is now owned by the state government and is supposedly being restored.
Exploration is an addiction.
